You might be very familiar with the .APK files. How it is easy to install them: just need to navigate to the file browser, choose the .APK file, click install and in few seconds, the required app will get installed into your phone.
But have you ever heard about .XAPK files. It is not same as .APK. And the installation process is also different for both the APK and XAPK Packages. Well, XAPK includes a APK in it along with the additional data i.e. mainly .obb files. The common similarity between them is that both are zip files.
XAPK is a standard zip file which allow to store all the necessary data of an app in a single file for easy installation. XAPK files are mostly large sized games and apps. Using XAPK file, you can install large size apps in your phone. So, the large sized XAPK can work in a low-end phone as well in comparison to same sized.APK without freezing the device.
If you extract a XAPK file or view the XAPK file as a zip file, you could see 1 folder and 3 files there.

The folder named "Android" contains all the additional data of the app in its sub folders.
The file named icon.png is the icon for XAPK file. It is viewed in XAPK Installer apps list.
Another file is (app's package name).apk which is the apk file.
And the last file is manifest.json. This is the most important file to validate and install apk along with its obb data. The manifest.json file consist the information about XAPK like name, package name, version name, version code, min sdk of app, targetted version of app and the permissions used by the app. It also contains the main thing that what external files are used by the apk and where to install those files.

Where to get the XAPK Files:
The main and only the place to get official and safe to install XAPK files is
APKPure. When you install some apps through Google Play Store, you might have seen "Downloading additional file for..." that app was actually a XAPK file. But Play Store can install apps directly to your phone, so you don't see XAPK files on your phone after you install the app. Installing a XAPK file is not that much easy as installing an APK file.
How to install XAPK Files:
There are different ways to install a XAPK file into your phone. Some of them are:
1. Direct install from Google Play:
Whenever you download any app or game and see "Downloading additional file for...", remember that you are installing an XAPK file. It is the easiest process for installing apps and games with additional data such as obb files because everything will be done automatically by Play Store app itself.
2. XAPK Installer:
XAPK Installer is a free tool to install XAPK files and put the additional data into its correct place. This app was released by APKPure. Click Here to download XAPK Installer app. This app is 100% safe to use.
Installing XAPK Files with XAPK Installer:
To installer XAPK files by using XAPK installer, first of all Download and install XAPK Installer and open it.
It will scan and show all the APK and XAPK files available on your device. You can install or delete APK or XAPK files from XAPK installer.
Then click Install button of any XAPK File, it will start installing its OBB File.
Soon after placing obb to right place, it will show a window to install APK of the XAPK file.
After you click install, you will have successfully installed the XAPK app on your phone.
3. Manual Installation
You can install XAPK files manually by extracting the XAPK file by changing the file extension from .xapk to .zip and manually placing the obb files to Android/obb of your phone storage and also installing the APK file of the app. After you do this two steps, your XAPK app is ready to use. If you download any paid/ modded app or game that has an obb additional file, you will follow this process carefully to install and use the required app.
4. APKPure App
You can also install XAPK Files by using APKPure app. To install XAPK Files using APKPure app, follow these steps:
- Open APKPure app.
- Click on Options.
- Click On APK/ XAPK Management.
- Choose a XAPK or APK File you want to install.
- Click on INSTALL.
